Nancy S. Caplan

Just finished using her and both of us feel we made the right choice. Managed to get us to agree on issues we'd been fighting over - and somehow did so with less pain than I expected (and for much less money than if we were fighting with lawyers and each other in court). We both compromised on stuff... but it was on our terms - and she seemed to be fair in helping us get to a good final result.

Nancy Caplan served as the initial mediator in my divorce from my ex-wife. She was not recommended, I simply found her in an online search. At the time, I found very little information about her online and no reviews (this should have been a flag for me to avoid Ms. Caplan). I booked her services bec...ause she was the first local mediator that I contacted that responded to my email and/or phone call. I guess that was the only positive experience that I had with Ms. Caplan, she was responsive. About two weeks later, we met with Ms. Caplan. I expected a neutral third-party; however, what I got was a "mediator" that essentially served as legal counsel for my then wife, offering her legal advice throughout the session. I felt under attack without representation during the entire session. I refused to return for a second session. At that point, my then wife and I went our separate ways and we each hired legal counsel. Also, I'd like to add that prior to beginning our only session and as part of her disclosure, Nancy Caplan informed us that she was twice divorced. I find this to be pertinent information considering she is a divorce mediator. Again, I had an opportunity to walk away but I didn't. I highly suggest that any man looking for a fair and unbiased mediator not employ Nancy Caplan for her mediation services.
