There are many attorneys who claim they understand the relevant laws and regulations related to services for the developmentally disabled, but after speaking to many attorneys, it is clear that the majority of these attorneys only know one specific entitlement program, i.e., SSI/SSDI, ADA, IDEA, etc.... Mrs. Fleming took on my sons case when she worked with the Maryland Disability Law Center. I was fighting with the State Department of Health and Human Services over reduced skilled nursing hours for my totally dependent son. I had already attended and lost a primary hearing with a hearing officer co...ncerning the matter and Ms. Fleming took on the appeal. She carried it all the way through to the Circuit Court level. Ms. Fleming was a God-send! She was extremely professional and knowledgeable. She kept us informed every step of the process. She was quite patient in explaining to us all the intricacies of the process. What impressed me most was her caring. She worked with us as if he was HER child. She was a fighter for his rights and being a officer of the court I know that her professionalism and zeal impressed the judge. When I remember the experience we had fighting for the restoration of my son's nursing hours I recall a year of sleeping on a futon so that I could watch him through the night and then having to work all day. I remember being stressed and extremely tired attempting to juggle my work and the welfare of my son.
