Meetesh Vinod Patel

I'm the founder and managing attorney of Consilium Law, and I have practiced business law in the Baltimore/Washington, DC region since 2001. I came to law from the other side of the table, as an entrepreneur, and that still shapes how I work.

Before and alongside my legal career, I spent nearly two decades helping build and commercialize technology companies in advanced energy, clean technology, and water purification. I helped build engineering teams, set strategy, earn investor confidence, raise seed capital, protect intellectual property, and form the partnerships needed to bring products to market. I have sat where my clients sit.

Today, I serve as outside general counsel to founders, owners, and growth-stage companies. I help with the recurring legal decisions that shape a business: formation and structuring, commercial contracts, technology licensing and transfer, trademark and copyright matters, private placements and financings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate governance.

A growing part of my practice is AI governance. I help companies that use AI in their products, operations, or vendor relationships work through data use, model oversight, disclosure, vendor terms, and board-level risk.

My working model is designed to be practical. Many clients engage me through a flat monthly fee, scoped in writing, with larger transactions such as financings or acquisitions priced separately. There's no upfront retainer and no hourly bill for a quick question. The goal is simple: to be the lawyer who already understands your business before the next legal question lands.

I represent clients across technology, software, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, scientific research, healthcare, finance, management consulting, hospitality, and other business sectors.

I earned my Juris Doctor from American University's Washington College of Law and my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with an emphasis in International Relations, from the University of Maryland, College Park. I am admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
