Physician Client

Mr. Whitney was most helpful throughout my divorce process. He and the office staff were knowledgeable, communicative, thorough, and prompt in handling all of my concerns, and the outcome was perfect. I really appreciate all the help through a very trying time.

Amos came highly recommended from one of his colleagues. I have a very unique multi-faceted case which is quite complex. This case is swiftly moving along. I have to say that Amos came in prepared and took charge. I'm impressed with his investigative work. He has a wealth of knowledge and gave cle...ar direction. I like his no BS, straight shooter kind of approach. I really appreciate his honesty and guidance.

Experienced, Driven, and Truthful

When I was served for an increase of child support, I was concerned that all of the lawyers would not be on my side due to me being a male. Majority of all the positive reviews across searches for lawyers were from women. I found Weinberg and Schwartz then Amos. He was very friendly and truthful with... me. I informed him that I had an upcoming case to obtain full custody of my daughter in which he requested to work with my custody lawyer out of state in VA. I gained full custody and Amos strategically fought against Social Services and stayed persistent. He was able to maneuver in a way that the increase was withdrawn. Immediately he filed for a motion to terminate child support. In which he the other party was avoiding being served. Long story short he got her served. The court date was issued but due to family obligations he wasn’t sure he’d be able to attend, so he employed an associate lawyer Jacquelyn Limsky to represent me on his behalf. I met her on the court date in which she did an amazing job. She explained to me the process when I showed up to court and she performed very well as Amos assured me. Long story short, my motion to terminate child support was granted and post dated back to July 2019 when I gained custody. I’m so happy!!!! He also filed for me to gain child support which will be coming up shortly. Amos fought for me and I will always be grateful for his services. I have been proven wrong that men can’t win in child support cases. Those men just had the wrong lawyer. Hire Amos!!!

I'd pass for someone else in the firm, personally.

I think he would be a great attorney to hire if he listened. The firm is big on trying to avoid trial, which is great when you actually leverage and get the best for your client. Instead, I spent over 60k and all they did was give the opposing side everything they asked for. I'm still paying the loan...s I took out to hire them. He made claims such as the custody evaluator's debriefing would be recorded for use in court. Obviously I paid Amos for his day there and none of the good things he claimed were said by the custody evaluator verbally could be introduced. His idea of "cleaning up my appearance" meant selling my nearly paid off luxury vehicle, to the threat of his quitting as my attorney, as he promised the opposing counsel I would sell it if my ex returned my vehicle. He encouraged me to liquidate my other two cars. When trial time came, he requested an additional 35k. This was a divorce with almost no assets to divide and a custody battle. He and I didn't see eye to eye and this was his way of firing me. My next attorney within two weeks had my ex and I settled with somewhat agreeable terms for a fraction of the cost. I say buyer be 'ware here! He refused to search for my ex's hidden money, much of which was never recovered. When he finally subpoenaed the financial institutions I'd been begging him to, his response to finding 30k of hidden funds was "when you're right, you're right!". Divorce cases which are highly contentious need someone who will dig into the details before deciding what not to pursue. Without a doubt, I believe this guy knows the law. But he talks more than he listens. You know more about your marriage than anyone and this guy is very cookie cutter in his approach. He built up my confidence by telling me about how his firm has such a great relationship with the HO CO court system, and how much he knows the magistrates, judges, and their kids and all of that. But a really petty and aggressive law firm will STEAMROLL you represented by these guys. Choose wisely

Best Divorce Attorney Ever

I came to Amos Whitney with a particularly entangled divorce. My soon to be ex believed that he should control all facets of our divorce and he tore through three attorneys in his search for the most aggressive one he could hire. I chose Amos, a brilliant attorney who was able to keep us on the highr...oad as he applied the correct litigation pressure and stayed several steps ahead of my ex and his team. Amos’s vast knowledge of the law and his finesse, both written and verbal, worked in my favor time and again. My ex was adamant about how HE would divide our assets. He affirmed that he would not offer any settlement for the business nor would he pay alimony. However, after two days of mediation we signed an agreement which provided me more than half the total assets, a substantial alimony and a settlement buyout of the business. All thanks to Amos and his team. Kudos also to Jamie Goldberg. She struck a wonderful balance between taskmaster and cheerleader. Also thanks to Rachel, always kind and helpful. I am grateful to Amos for helping me navigate the shark infested waters of my contentious divorce. The experience was foreign and seemed daunting. Everything mattered so much as I constructed my new life. With Amos’s superior counsel I realized that, moving forward, I will be more than OK; I will be set for life.
