Megan L. Reuwer is a real estate, land use, green building, and business attorney with offices located in Ellicott City, Maryland. Ms. Reuwer assists commerical and residential property owners with the negotiation and drafting of real estate sales contracts, leases, and other documents ancillary to the management and sale of property. Ms. Reuwer represents medium and large scale builders and developers in obtaining the local government and state agency approvals needed for their residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects. She represents clients through the entire building and development process, including initial feasibility analysis and land acquisition, guiding the project through site plan approvals, and on to issuance of building and use-and-occupancy permits. In addition to providing counseling for new development projects, Ms. Reuwer also assists property owners of redevelopment projects and existing business owners to secure necessary land use and zoning approvals.
Ms. Reuwer is one of the few attorneys in Maryland to be accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program as a LEED Accredited Professional, and is professionally interested in the impacts of environmental law and policy on the building and development industries. As a LEED AP, Ms. Reuwer possesses a thorough understanding of green building practices and the knowledge to assist clients in the LEED certification process.
Ms. Reuwer also has the distinct experience of being one of the first attorneys to draft a Green Neighborhood for Sites Report document. This Green Neighborhood for Sites report was a necessary element for that project to attain Green Neighborhood for Sites approval under Howard County's Green Neighborhood program. Ms. Reuwer is knowledgeable about various County green building programs, and can assist your team in drafting the necessary compliance documents for your green project.
Ms. Reuwer obtained her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law, where she served as the Executive Notes and Comments Editor of the School of Law’s Journal of Business and Technology Law. While in law school, she authored a case note entitled “Wood Prince v. Lynch: Opening the Door for Subsequent Misapplications of the Business Judgment Rule to Claims Alleging that a Trustee has Breached His Fiduciary Duty of Loyalty” that was published in the Journal. Ms. Reuwer received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis.
Ms. Reuwer is actively involved in the Maryland State Bar Association, and is a member of the State and Local Government Law Section of the American Bar Association. Ms. Reuwer is admitted to practice in Maryland.
