also known as Mat Limsky
I am a Howard County-based attorney licensed to practice in MD, DC, and the U.S. Tax Court. I focus my practice on estate planning (including elder law and disability / special needs planning), business law, and tax law.
I assist clients with developing and effectuating plans to address a variety of concerns, including: Disability / Special Needs Planning (and Government Benefit Planning / Qualification); Long-term Medical Expense Assistance ("Medical Assistance" or "Medicaid"); Creditor-protection and Wealth Preservation; "What If's" relating to Minor Children; Incapacity Pre-Need Planning; Tax Liabilities and Savings; Trust Formation and Administration; Estate Administration; Entity Formation and Governance; and more.
Law is ever-changing, whether by statute, regulation, caselaw, or otherwise. Most people assume all attorneys are aware of recent changes to the Law of their respective practice areas; many attorneys do not become aware of relevant changes for several months, if not longer, after bills are signed into law. (*Note - Maryland attorneys are not required to attend continuing education courses.)
Plans that rely on outdated Laws are outdated.
Monitoring trends in pending, passed, and failed legislation and caselaw enables compliance with current laws and enables clients and I to have a more intelligent discussion about their long-term plans.

Professional, Compassionate
Mathew helped me with getting through a tough time of applying for Medicaid for my father. He was very kind, patient and compassionate in all the steps that were needed. I would definitely recommend him with this kind of help.

Helpful Consultation
I was referred to Mr. Limsky by my attorney to help answer questions regarding a will belonging to my mother. He was prompt in returning my call, and consulted with another attorney because my issue was not the norm. I appreciated his time and attention.

Mathew was professional, courteous, and helpful with suggestions on an updated will and a trust for my kids after my mom passed. I will not hesitate to call on him if needed.

"Mat is the best possible lawyer - smart and kind, always looking out for the best interest of his clients and going the extra mile."
"I’ve worked with Matthew for several years on complicated fiduciary matters. I have found him professional, responsive and detail oriented. He’s great to work with."
"Mathew is a hard-working and talented attorney and I would not hesitate to recommend him to someone who needs Elder Law representation."
"Matt and I are colleagues in the Maryland State Bar Association and have bought taught each other much and learned from each other much about the topics of estate planning and elder care law. He works in a great firm with plenty of more senior attorneys, which gives him a broad base of support in his practice. I wouldn't hesitate to send him clients and, in fact, have recommended him to clients I have not had the resources of time to help myself."
"Mathew takes great care in all his cases and works tirelessly to get his clients great results. I have watched Mathew develop as an attorney and am impressed by his passion and confident in his abilities."
