Biography
I try to focus on appeals, but I also do trial-level criminal defense work and general practice.
At first I specialized in war crimes law, genocide, crimes against humanity, that sort of thing. It was an exciting area of the law, but justice needs to be done for people accused of more ordinary crimes, too. Someone needs to be on their side as well, especially in the streets of Washington, DC. Accordingly, I turned to helping my neighbors who live closer to home.
A 6th generation, native-born New Englander, I grew up on a farm in northern Maine. I came to Washington to study international affairs, worked at the Library of Congress for a while, then finally smartened up and went to law school. I've been happy ever since!

I'm married to a very nice lady from Canada, Maria. It's been seven years and we're still newly-weds!
We have a Welsh Corgi, Lucky Boots. He is a good boy and wants you to feed him.
