Patricia Murphy McGowan

Patricia (Tricia) is a zealous advocate for persons who sustain injuries due to the negligence of others. Her areas of focus include car crashes and premises liability.

Tricia grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland with her parents and two older sisters. She obtained an undergraduate degree in Secondary English Education from DePaul University. After teaching one year of high school in Chicago, IL, and two years in Denver, CO, she attended Barry University School of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude.

While attending law school, she clerked for Judge Weiss on the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. It was also during this time that her mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Tricia witnessed first hand the impact that mental and physical health have on a person and his or her family. This is what drove her to become an advocate for the injured. If someone’s careless actions or inactions are the cause of your injuries and pain and suffering, you deserve to be compensated. Life is hard enough when you are mentally and physically well.

Her clients inspire her and drive her to deliver impressive results. Each client has their own unique story, and she is passionate about unearthing that story. She takes pride in communicating her clients stories to those responsible for compensating her clients for their losses.

Do not mistake her big heart and genuine compassion for being a pushover. She is extremely protective of her clients and is not afraid to show her teeth when provoked.

She is a member of the Maryland Association for Justice (MAJ) and proudly serves on the Executive Committee of the MAJ’s Women’s Caucus.
Tricia attributes much of her success to her dad, Michael McGowan. He was a personal injury attorney for over 40 years, and she was fortunate to have the opportunity to work conjointly with him on many complex and high stake cases.

Tricia’s husband, and soul mate, Brett Berngartt, founder of Waterworld Plumbing, their son, Kerry (named after her mother), daughter Grace, and standard poodle, Bella.
