William T. "Bill" Wood founded Wood Law Offices, LLC, Rockville, Maryland, has been a practicing lawyer for over 35 years, is Past President of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association (now Maryland Association for Justice), is listed following peer review in The Best Lawyers in America, The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, Super Lawyers Magazine and is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He also is listed in The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Maryland and in 2011 he was recognized by The Washington Post as one of Maryland's and Washington, D.C.'s Top Attorneys. Mr. Wood is currently actively engaged in civil and criminal trial work. He has tried many high profile civil and criminal cases in many State and Federal Courts including winning the tenth largest civil settlement for medical malpractice against the U.S. Department of the Navy, a verdict for over $7M for a young man severely injured in a motor vehicular collision, a $1.8M settlement for an infant who suffered from a misdiagnosis and delay in treatment and many others. He also has lectured extensively on litigation related matters and has appeared periodically on Channel 5 Fox Television News in the Washington-Metropolitan area and MSNBC nationally pertaining to legal issues of local and national interest.
He was appointed in 1999 by Maryland's Governor to the University System of Maryland Board of Regents and currently serves as Chairman of the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc., as a member of the Board of Visitors of the University of Maryland University College, and the Board of Directors of the University System of Maryland Foundation, Inc. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Association of Justice Foundation, Inc., and has served sitting judges as Treasurer and courthouse candidates as Campaign Manager for many elections.
