Steve Ring was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in suburban Maryland. He attended Georgetown Preparatory School, Dartmouth College (BA philosopy) and Boston University School of Law (JD 1977).
After clerking for the Honorable Richard B. Latham of the Circuit Court for Montomgery County, Ring entered practice as a trial attorney with Brault, Graham, Scott and Brault, handling a variety of litigation and probate matters in Maryland and D.C. In 1987 he opened his own office expanding his range of civil practice to include complex civil litigation including consumer class actions. One particular area of concentration in recent years has been the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which governs unsolicited advertisements via telephone, facsimile, cellular telephone and text messaging. Ring has been active in local and state bar associations including four terms on the Maryland State Bar Association Board of Governors.
Ring has handled hundreds of cases at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts, including dozens of trials taken to verdict or judgment. Most of Ring's court cases are viewable in the public record. A list of some of those cases is available to potential clients upon request.
