Credentials, Experience, Abilities: I studied law at Harvard Law School and have spent a quarter-century practicing law, first at prominent law firms in Washington, D.C. and New York City, and then as a government lawyer for the U.S. Congress and two agencies. I've also taught at Georgetown University Law Center.
My specialties in immigration and immigration-related family law are complemented by extensive experience in regulatory matters and in foreign and international law. I have practiced law overseas and am well-equipped to consider the special customs and requirements of your own cultural or religious community.

Improving Your Odds: In many cases, outcomes depend partly on judges, government officials, or other third parties. I won't make false promises or guarantees. Instead, I'll inform you of your risks and possibilities, and work hard to give you the best chances of success, on your own terms.
Costs: Some cases allow a fixed fee, but most are subject to hourly billing against a retainer fee paid in advance. The costs of legal representation are often determined by the actions of courts, agencies and adverse parties, and by your own changing circumstances over time. I'll work to limit your costs and avoid surprises by keeping you informed and helping you decide what to fight for.
