From the time my initial consultation ended I was relieved that I would be dealing with Greg. His knowledge and experience showed immediately and continued to be a great asset throughout the entire process. This was the second time I had to fight for my children and my first experience left a negativ...e feeling and stereotype of Lawyers as my initial one seemed to be solely concerned about money. Greg let me know ways to save money which was great, but I can not express in words the dedication I felt he had toward me and my family. No matter what I get involved with I research, study and get as much information as possible. With my kids this is multiplied 10 fold!! Greg tolerated, coached and assisted me at every turn no matter what I thought I knew or should do. The dedication I have to my kids and he has with his was evident very early in the process and this was an important and invaluable thing to a man fighting for his children to continue being in his life. I am a great father. Sadly that does not always guarantee anything in todays court system. Thanks to Greg my kids won. They get to have both parents in their life as should be and as more people should put their selfish reasons away and push for. This process is a stressful, heart wrenching and frustrating thing. To have a lawyer that is actually concerned not just about the outcome, but about your family even after the final court date concludes is a luxury I would never have imagined to find. It was never all business as we discussed our children, vacation spots, shared laughs and several things that washed away that bitter feeling from my first experience. We all have to make a living and get paid, but I can honestly say if you are looking for someone that will be dedicated to you, your family and your case then you have found him. This doesn't mean you can come in with hate and bitterness towards the other side because he will kindly let you know what is acceptable for your children. My court case took place in Frederick County and I know home field advantage is great, but that was not an issue when you have a knowledgeable, professional and likeable person in your corner. Believe it or not it is important for both you and the person representing you to come off as likeable! I am glad my experience is behind me and though I move forward and don't like to revisit that time I consider myself extremely lucky to have had Greg in my corner and actually have a person to person relationship rather than an attorney pay day. I wish the best for him and his family and I hope this helps anyone reading this to make the right decision!

I hired Greg Abney last summer for a custody case that turned rather ugly pretty quickly. From my first interaction with Mr. Abney until the final court order was signed, he remained very professional yet also very personable. I felt comfortable working with him and felt that I was able to open up ...to him with any concerns that I had. We ended up settling the matter out of court and I was able to get a lot of the terms I wanted because of his ability to work cooperatively and patiently with me as well as my son's father's attorney. If we ever have to go back to court for this matter, I would hire Greg in a heartbeat.

Had the privilege of obtaining Mr. Abney for a complex child/family issue in 2007. He was extremely responsive, willing to find out information and prepare for any contingency for my upcoming case. I believe it was because he was so thorough that the charges were dropped shortly after he presented ...our case. In every matter he was professional, prepared and courteous -- years later I find that this complete package is rare! Would recommend him without reservation.

Mr. Abney handled my divorce several years ago. My now-ex and I had verbally agreed on terms prior to the one-year separation required in this state prior to formal filing. He decided to file two months before the one-year date, and turned the whole process into a truly ugly thing. The mystery of ...his action was solved when the filings from his combative, fee-seeking attorney started rolling in. I had 30 days to respond, and didn’t know who I could turn to for help. I put my case info on an on-line attorney referral service, and received three replies. I chose Mr. Abney because his response represented a decent and measured approach to the situation. He worked within my financial means, kept me from going crazy, and shepherded the process. He recognized and used the right moment to turn around an ugly development, and got the agreement back to the original terms. Bless him for that. Finally, I was able to question my ex about what happened, and he said, “Did your attorney do what you wanted him to do?” I said, “Yes, my attorney actually did exactly what I wanted him to do.” If I ever need an attorney, I would call Mr. Abney in a heartbeat.
