William Alexander Goldberg

Bill Goldberg is a litigator at Lerch, Early & Brewer in Bethesda, Maryland. Bill’s broad litigation practice includes significant trial and appellate experience in the Maryland, DC, Virginia, and federal court systems, as well as alternative dispute resolution. He helps business owners and executives resolve business disputes, including trade secret violations claims and enforcements, and fraud and fiduciary duty claims. Bill often handles business divorces, lawsuits between current and former business partners regarding issues like shareholders’ agreements, buy-outs, business valuations, fraud, and intellectual property rights.

Bill’s business and litigation background forms the basis of his estate and trust litigation practice. He represents beneficiaries, trustees, and personal representatives in estate litigation involving disputes based on distribution of assets, fraud, undue influence, or lack of mental capacity. He has significant trial and appellate experience in these areas, as well as with alternative dispute resolution, including mediation.

Bill received his Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. and his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Before joining Lerch Early, Bill practiced complex commercial and intellectual property litigation at an AMLAW 200 law firm in Washington, DC. His practice also included First Amendment litigation and counseling, including defamation and pre-publication review. Bill is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia and several federal courts.

Maryland Super Lawyers has repeatedly named Bill one of Maryland's "Rising Stars" in the field of Business Litigation. Bill serves on the board of directors of Gifts for the Homeless, a wholly volunteer-run organization that donates used and new clothing to shelters throughout the Washington, DC area, and is a member of Leadership Montgomery’s Class of 2015.

Bill, who is originally from Long Island, enjoys traveling to the beach in Florida with his wife and their twin boys and golfing at public courses around the Washington, DC area, especially Whiskey Creek.
