Julie Colin

Julie Colin is a family law attorney with Petrelli Previtera, LLC, admitted in New Jersey since 1984 and in Maryland since 2022. She works with individuals on divorce and the full range of family law matters, including custody disputes, parental rights and private adoptions, and is known for explaining the law in plain terms so clients can weigh their goals against likely outcomes.

As she often tells clients, "If you're up at night worrying, call me. I'll help you sleep." She is comfortable going to trial when a case calls for it, and just as comfortable helping a client settle when that serves the family better. Before moving into family law she practiced civil litigation and held senior roles at private firms and insurance companies, and she has taught trial advocacy and family law as an adjunct professor.

Julie earned her J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she ranked second in her class, and a B.S., cum laude, from the University of Maryland. She holds an advanced certification in family law from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She volunteers with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and supports outreach programs for underserved children and foster youth.
