Heather Sisto Koontz

I’m a family law attorney at Offit Kurman in Bethesda, Maryland, where I help individuals and families navigate some of life’s most challenging transitions. My practice spans divorce and separation, custody and support, domestic violence, and pre- and post-marital agreements. I take a strategic, client-centered approach prioritizing amicable resolution through negotiation and mediation, but fully prepared to litigate when necessary to protect my clients’ rights and best interests.

My passion for family law is personal. As the daughter of divorced parents, I understand firsthand how deeply these matters affect families, especially children. This perspective shapes my work and fuels my commitment to balancing empathy with assertiveness. Clients often turn to me not only for legal advice, but for steady support during emotionally complex times.

In addition to my legal practice, I’m actively engaged in the broader legal community. I’ve spoken on LGBTQ+ legal issues at the D.C. Bar Association and hosted the Montgomery County Bar Association’s Chambers Chat. I believe in continuing education, meaningful advocacy, and leadership that drives our profession forward.
