Arnold Spevack practices law in Lerch, Early and Brewer’s Commercial Lending, Creditors’ Rights & Workouts and Real Estate Transactions groups. The seasoned attorney represents individuals, businesses, lenders and borrowers in financings, closings, negotiations and in the courts.
Among his clients are real estate developers, local and national financial institutions, community associations, senior care and assisted living centers, and health care facilities. He works hard to get to know them and their objectives so that he can evaluate the best approach, establish a realistic budget, and set a course designed to reach their goals in a cost-effective, efficient manner. He is known for his assertive but temperate representation of his clients.
Arnie’s experience includes providing assistance in the acquisition, development, operation and management of office, retail and residential projects, as well as all aspects of commercial lending. In the commercial finance arena, he has been involved in every stage of development – handling complex negotiations, structuring and obtaining financing, negotiating leasing arrangements and crafting tax-free exchanges.
An experienced creditor’s rights attorney, Arnie assists both borrowers and lenders in workout negotiations and helps them refinance existing real estate mortgages and business loans.
Arnie, who is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia, New York and California, helps property owners and sellers with complex residential purchase transactions. He assists in the acquisition of property, and in the resolution of disputes that involve the purchase of real estate, residential and commercial construction projects and related issues. In addition, he helps resolve disputes involving high-end residential properties. Arnie has represented property owners in dealing with cable television and other telecommunications operators in the deregulated environment.
A frequent speaker on all aspects of real estate law, Arnie’s presentations include topics related to brokerage, banking, environmental and employment law.
Arnie earned his Bachelor of Arts from The Johns Hopkins University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law.
Active in civic affairs, Arnie is a board member of the Hebrew Home of Washington, D.C., and is a member of its Quality Improvement committee. He recently received the “Rock the Law” Award from the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes for his outstanding pro bono work on behalf of people with disabilities. He also serves as a member of the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Council, is on the board of the Spring Valley West Homes Corporation and is a past vice president of the Luxmanor Citizens Association.
Arnie enjoys spending time at the beach with his wife – who was introduced to him by a client.
