Mark Joseph Anderson

Mark Joseph Anderson is a highly skilled criminal defense attorney and the principal at the Law Offices of Thomas C. Mooney in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. With over two decades of legal experience, he is well-versed in Maryland court procedures and trial strategies and has zealously defended his clients in a number of different criminal and traffic matters.

A former prosecutor, Mr. Anderson started his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York and later became a Senior Assistant State’s Attorney in Montgomery County, Maryland. He continued to serve people in that position until 2021. During that period, he led several major felony divisions in both Montgomery County and Kings County.

Furthermore, Mr. Anderson is trained as a collision reconstructionist and has completed over 400-hours of training on the same. Specifically, Mr. Anderson is trained in automobile reconstruction, commercial motor vehicle collision reconstruction, bicycle and pedestrian collision reconstruction. As a result of his accomplishments and knowledge, he was invited by Governor Hogan’s Office to join the board of many committees of the Maryland Department of Transportation.

A dean’s list graduate of St. Mary’s College, Maryland, Mr. Anderson completed his Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science in 1997. He then attended the University of Baltimore School of Law and secured his Juris Doctor in 2002. He obtained his license to practice law in Maryland and New York in 2003 and later in the District of Columbia (2020).

One to spread knowledge in his community, Mr. Anderson frequently speaks at seminars and instructs lawyers on trial advocacy, collision reconstruction, firearm comparisons, and a variety of other criminal law topics. He holds active affiliations with the Montgomery Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association, Prince George's County Bar Association, the Howard County Bar Association and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys' Association. Mr. Anderson has been selected to many leadership roles in the different Bar Association and is frequently sought out by the press for his opinions.
