Kevin J McDevitt

Kevin is very professional and easy to work with. After interviewing several good attorneys with DUI experience, Kevin stood out as he has extensive depth and experience with Title 8 (Department of Natural Resources- Waters) charges. Not only is Kevin well versed in the Maryland Code, he is also... intimately familiar with operating a boat and was able to dissect the case on several different levels. I had what most would have considered an open and shut case, and did not think that it was possible to obtain the results I did after blowing double the limit. Mr. McDevitt met with me frequently over a 7-month period, explaining each time the possible results associated with the multiple charges r...elated to my DUI/DWI case. At the first court appearance Mr. McDevitt raised questions to the States Attorney (SA) about providing discovery minutes before court, therefore SA requested a continuance to allow us to review discovery. At second court appearance we refused to plead guilty to DUI/DWI and the police officers were not available, so SA requested a second continuance. At third court appearance the police officers were again not available. At this point we had to make a decision, so we offered a plea of negligent to traffic violation and the SA turned us down again. When we were called in front of judge, I believe Mr. McDevitt may have informed SA that the police officers were not available. So instead of asking for trial, which could have been postponed to later date, at recommendation of Mr. McDevitt we plead guilty to lesser traffic violation and the SA accepted our plea. I received a “nolle prosequi” in the more serious charges of DUI/DWI and a guilty to running a red light with a small fine. I am happy with the results and have Mr. McDevitt to thank for encouraging me to be patient and stay the course. I have entered expungement in all alcohol related charges and will no longer have any criminal violations on my record. Mr. McDevitt is high energy but very knowledgeable about the law and what is realistic to expect. He provided examples of past experiences based on his knowledge of the judges and states attorneys, which allowed me to make an informed decision on my expected results.

At the beginning of December 2016 I was involved in an accident and charged with not only a DUI but three counts of life threatening injury while under the influence. I went to district court and was found guilty of everything and sentenced to three years in jail. I appealed my trial and immediately ...seeked new representation and spoke to McDevitt. Late last year I had an unforntuate run in with the law. I was pulled over while talking a friend home from a local bar. I was given a breathalizer and field sobriety test, which resulted in a free ride in a cop car. I knew I couldn't fight a DUI charge own my own. I needed a lawyer and a good on...e. Through word of mouth, I was referred to Kevin J. McDevitt. After our first meeting, I had a good feeling about this man. Long long story short I got multiple citations including a DUI a DWI in a car accident that totaled my car. Also I perform poorly on the field sobriety test and I refuse to do a breathalyzer so I called Kevin the next day and at first I had concerns and was worried what I was facing jail time and pos...sibly losing my career so who wouldn't be. The six citations got knocked down to just one traffic violation and the refusal of the breathalyzer was going to have my license suspended. But Kevin found a way to take of that as well...once it was all said and done I hired a lawyer for a very serious situation and only got a minor traffic violation, guess you can say the lawyer did what he was hired to do
