Thomas E. Pyles is an accomplished personal injury and criminal defense trial attorney with over 28 years of legal experience. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Mr. Pyles received his Juris Doctorate degree from the Washington College of Law at the American University in 1991. Prior to law school, he graduated from the University of Baltimore, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

One of Mr. Pyles’ first legal jobs was working as a law clerk for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Felony I Division (murders, rapes and robberies). During the summer after his first year of law school, he worked with U.S. Attorneys who handled murder trials. Mr. Pyles was aligned with one of the top prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s office and helped respond and formulate both pre-trial and trial motions during the prosecution of these murder cases. Upon graduation, Mr. Pyles went to work for Richard A. Brown, senior and founding partner at Brown & McCormick and devoted his initial career to representing victims of personal injury cases as well as clients that found themselves facing the state in criminal prosecutions. During this time period, Mr. Pyles sharpened his litigation skills and began developing his reputation among judges, lawyers and clients as a top litigator. From there, Mr. Pyles started working at a Southern Maryland law firm where he continued to focus on personal injury and criminal defense. He also began to handle domestic relations and bankruptcy cases.

In 2010, Mr. Pyles decided to open his own firm that primarily focused on personal injury and criminal defense cases. A very Happy Client

June 1, 2017 In June of 2016 I was hit by a Fed- Ex 18 wheeler while stopped at a red light beca...use the driver decided to run the light. My four year old son was in the car and I was absolutely devastated. To make matters worse I had just purchased my new 2016 Ford Escape and my whole passenger side was ruined. To say I was upset would be an understatement, the driver nor manager of fed ex that came to the seen showed me any kind of compassion or offered an apology. The driver thought it was funny and actually laughed at my frustration and pain. I knew I needed a lawyer and a good one. My brother recommended Thomas Pyles, from the day I spoke to his staff, himself and visited his office I was met with friendly faces and a stern attitude in getting my son and myself justice for our pain and suffering. Thomas Pyles and his team is truly god sent. They kept me informed and even when I felt like I was being a nuisance with a million phone calls, every phone call and message was returned in a timely manner. I did not leave the scene in an ambulance and when asked if I was hurt I told the officer I was fine which resulted in no police report being filed because both cars were drivable and no injury reported. I was discouraged at that fact but Mr. Pyles ensured me that it was no big deal to him and he took my case and got settlements for both my son and I. I am extremely happy with the settlement amount with exceeded my expectations and it didn’t take long. My accident was in June of 2016 and I settled in May of 2017, a little under a year. Furthermore I was in a financial bind after the accident being that I could not drive for Uber part-time because of the damage to my vehicle. My back was against the wall again and I was going to take out a settlement loan but once again Thomas and his team came to my rescue and were able to get me the cash I needed before my settlement came through for a reasonable fee. There are no amount of words that can express my thanks and gratitude for Thomas and his team and I would recommend him to anyone in need of a good lawyer with an awesome team that has unbeatable customer service  Sincerely, M. Court went very smoothly

Mr. Pyles handled a couple traffic tickets for me. I called the office and they were able to fit me in that afternoon for a free consultation with him. We reviewed my case and prices and I decided to hire him. Very good prices and he even worked out a payment plan for me. When we went to court, every...thing went really smoothly and everything was taken care of without any points going on my license. Very thankful and will use again if I need to.

Great attorney who handled my auto accident case!

My friend referred me to Mr. Pyles after I was in a car accident last year. I was not sure what to do as far as dealing with the insurance companies. I met with Mr. Pyles and he talked me through the whole process and I decided to let him handle my case because he has so much experience dealing with ...insurance companies. After my initial meeting with him, he took care of everything as far as dealing with the insurance company. I didnt have to talk to them again. I missed a week from work because of the accident and he got me my lost wages! I didnt know that was even possible. He negotiated with the company and I got a great settlement out of it. I strongly recommend Mr. Pyles to anyone who needs an attorney to handle their accident case. If I had tried to take care of it myself I would not have gotten close to the amount that I got with Mr. Pyles.

Unorganized, can't remember case

Domestic abuse/custody. Tom is more concerned with making friends and talking about what he did over the weekend, than working the case. He forgets major details, and told the other parties attorney that he didn't want our case to keep going, so we need to settle. He does NOT advocate for the victim,... just wants to take your money and run. Talks a big game about how will will help, then repeatedly drops the ball in the courtroom. He cuts off judges when they are trying to speak, doesn't talk to you to prep you for what will happen in court or what questions you'll be asked, and has been late every time except once. You're better off representing yourself. He was good a few years ago for one case I had with him, don't know if he's just burnt out, lazy, or needs to hire more people to help. Either way, call anyone else.
