Name and co-founding partner Michele L. Burton was raised in Portsmouth, Virginia. She attended the University of Virginia where she obtained Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Anthropology. Shortly thereafter, Michele graduated from Old Dominion University with a Master of Arts in Humanities with a focus on Race and Law. In May 2012, she graduated from the College of William and Mary School of Law with a Juris Doctorate and passed the bar in October of that year.
Upon graduation, Michele worked as a magistrate in Norfolk, Virginia for two years where she conducted probable cause hearings for the issuance of arrest and search warrants, temporary detention orders for citizens going through a mental health crisis that placed themselves or others at risk, and emergency protective orders.
In early 2015, Michele embarked on a career in criminal prosecution in Portsmouth, Virginia, and handled thousands of cases including, but not limited to, homicide, malicious wounding, arson, DUI maiming, and weapons and drug offenses.
After serving in her hometown, Michele and her family moved to Loudoun County in 2021 where she served as a Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney for nearly three years. During her tenure there, Michele prosecuted several complex cases including a homicide where there was no physical evidence linking the defendant to the shooting death of a mother in her home. Using surveillance footage, geofencing, and cell site location data from the accused’s phone records, Michele learned the intricacies of the technology used by the FBI CAST Division and local law enforcement to close this difficult case.
In addition to working on violent crimes, Michele sharpened her knowledge of Economic Crimes and led a team of prosecutors on the White Collar Crime Team. Michele handled high-dollar embezzlement and fraud cases involving both private businesses and government entities. These cases involve several hundreds of pages of bank and employee records and require keen attention to detail.
Currently, Michele focuses her practice on criminal, traffic, family, and civil matters. A litigation powerhouse, Michele will knowledgeably and aggressively represent you in court. She strives to ensure that you are heard and that you are updated about the case every step of the way.
Michele regularly practices in the General District, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District, and Circuit Courts in Loudoun County and surrounding the Northern Virginia ara.
