What recourse do I have for my landlord refusing to credit me a legal fee back to rent, and telling my parents what I owe?

Make sure you do not withhold rent because that is called self-help and is prohibited even if the landlord is in the wrong.

Your landlord can't sell and/or throw away your things. Take the other attorneys advice and seek additional help through the Find a Lawyer tab.

Is it legal to send him a letter stating that he either removes his property from the garage, pays rent or it will be removed?

You can't really get him to pay rent if he hasn't signed a lease. Why don't you take the other attorney's suggestion and box his things up?

Since you are not an immediate relative, you should be extra careful. A state ID is normally acceptable but check with the airline to make sure.
