Negligent and failing to communicate with the client

I hired Thomas Plofchan of the Westlake Legal Group at Cascades to handle my property boundary and ownership case. He politely handed my case to an inexperience attorney (Chris Hudspeth) at his firm that wrote one letter to the opposing Law firm and left Westlake Legal Group without giving me notice ...that my file was closed. At least two additional mail communications threatening aggressive financial and physical responses as a mean to resolve the dispute, were sent to the Westlake Legal Group, neither of which were shared with me, nor was I made aware of their existence and possession by Westlake. They never returned my calls or lived up to the rule of professional conduct, which I feel is an ethical violation for lack of communication. I once consider Thomas Plofchan an old friend when he use to do title work for me but after his not living up to taking care of my negotiations and no follow-up of my case that has caused me financial, mental and physical unrest until this day! I have finally settle with my neighbors. All of this could have been avoided if they got back to me with these letters which has caused over four years of hardship and financial stress for me and my family. I highly feel that if I could give his Law Firm a below 0 star, it would be appropriate after all that they have caused me. I will be seeking further actions against him and Westlake Legal Group. Shame on you!!!

All talk and pompous show

I hired Plofchan for a civil matter. He was very persuasive and compelling in my initial meeting with him, and I hired him. After that, he was an absentee lawyer. I was handed around his firm, from attorney to attorney - as Plofchan was unavailable for meetings, depositions, hearings, etc. Each time ...I was billed, to bring a new lawyer 'up to date' on my case. At the final trial, Plofchan showed up, but he simply did not know my case. He missed very major and significant aspects of my case, and the other side definitely got away with lying on some really basic stuff that my attorney should have known and easily presented available evidence against. Plofchan also irritated the judge with his pompous attitude, and I paid the price for that. I changed lawyers, and was told by my new lawyer, that the lawyer who fought for the other side against Plofchan in my case (still the attorney for the opposing side) - was laughing for a week at how poorly Plofchan was prepared for my case. He knew he got away with murder in my case, due to Plofchan - and thought it was quite funny and pathetic. I see Plofchan has positive reviews, but I strongly do not recommend him for civil cases. I felt like his bread and butter for a case he did not take seriously, but his bill certainly did not reflect that!

Superb - Mr. Plofchan produced a result that far exceeded our expectations.

A family member retained Mr. Plofchan of Westlake Legal Group for a situation that could have resulted in a felony conviction with mandatory jail time. Mr. Plofchan’s excellent work resulted in a traffic infraction with a small fine. When the county court did not produce a result to the liking o...f the Commonwealth’s Attorney, the attorney pursued a Grand Jury indictment in the Circuit Court. At the final court appearance, the Circuit Court judge complimented Mr. Plofchan on his excellent work to have arrived at the agreed settlement. When the judge compliments his work, what more can one say - superb. From the very start and throughout the process Mr. Plofchan carefully explained his proposed approach, the steps involved, and potential outcomes, and of course the costs. He and his associate Mr. Griffith continued to provide good explanations and recommendations through all stages of the process. We especially appreciate his consideration of the defendant’s concerns about the various steps of the proceedings. I strongly recommend Mr. Plofchan.

Tom will fight for you

Tom handled my traffic violation case very professionally and successfully. Tom was recommended to me by a friend and I was extremely pleased with him and his staff. My first meeting with Tom was informative and I left our meeting feeling that I choose an attorney that would fight for me. He was... very well versed in all the laws related to my case. In court, he fought for my case which proved successful when the charges were dismissed.

Successful Outcome

My case was in traffic court where I felt I was wrongfully charged so I retained the services of Tom Plofchan. Tom is also a friend of mine and I had heard nothing, but positive recommendations from others that had used his services so I knew he was the one to hire. I never had a reason to hire an ...attorney before so I needed to go with one I could trust. Tom was very attentive in listening to my concerns about the charges and he did the research necessary to back up my defense. He took care of everything and my witness and I only had to show up in court. While the charges were not totally dropped, he was able to work out a plea agreement that certainly was in my favor & greatly appreciated. I highly recommend using Mr. Plofchan as your attorney.
