My new son-in-law (JH) is a UK citizen, and we wanted him to be able to come to the US for a family vacation on a visa. My daughter could not start the spousal immigration process because JH would not be allowed to enter the country until that was complete, and he would miss the vacation. To compli...cate matters, he works for a US company but does the work in the UK. He was denied an ESTA probably for reasons they thought he would skirt the immigration process since he was recently married to a US citizen and works for a US company. JH did intend to return to the UK after 8 weeks as he had various responsibilities there to complete before immigrating to the US. We consulted with Mr. Singer who acknowledged that this case was unusual, and that a visa approval was a long shot, but our only option. He suggested applying for a B-2 visa and going to the interview with a notebook full of evidence showing that my son-in-law would be returning to the UK after 8 weeks. Mr. Singer wrote an overview letter referencing tabs in the evidence notebook. The interview day arrived, and we all hoped for the best but expected the worst. Surprise!
