Wealth of knowledge, easy to Communicate with and she listens well.

I contacted her in 2014 by phone explaining I was an over stay. My husband was a permanent resident. She advised me to wait until he becomes a citizen then the process will be quicker. Fast forward to 2016 he became a citizen. She e plainest all the possibilities of a rejected application. She had t...o make it clear and we understood from her advice that it was within her right to do so. We filed a d had no issues. Everything she said in terms of the timeline was on point. We were blessed to come across her any future representation we will definitely be using her. God bless you Smita and Catholic Charities.

Personable, Kind and Thorough

Words can not express how grateful I was to have had Smita Dazzo as my immigration lawyer. She was highly recommended to me by my sister who had an outstanding experience with her. Similarly, I experienced same and more. First, she was extremely explicit about what the services I was seeking would e...ntail and what her role as a lawyer would be in the process. She provided my husband and I a suggested timeline and communicated with us throughout the process. I was extremely touched that she would take the initiative on more than one occasion to call the appropriate organization to ensure our papers were following the expected timeline . Additionally, she gave relevant suggestion on how to personalize our application to make it as authentic as possible. That made me feel that not only was she thorough or explicit, but she was not pushing us through. We were real people. Finally, she celebrated with us at the end of the process. I am truly appreciative of Smita's professionalism throughout the process. I have and will continue to highly recommend her to friends and family!

Compassionate and dedicated

My case was handled by another attorney who left the office because of a promotion; this made me anxious at first, because things were going good with that attorney. Mrs Smita' simplicity and kindness made the transition very smooth. Because of her dedication and professionalism I started to see even... more tangible results. Her advice always bring progress. Mrs Smita's compassion towards the abused women, last year at the Cotholic Charity' s Women yearly meeting confirmed how much she cares not only about her job, but also her devotion to those in need of justice. Our relationship has moved from just professional to friendship, and I will definitely recommend her to anyone. I sincerely believe that Mrs Smita is an attorney that one can put his or her trust in.

Smita is the best immigration attorney in D.C | Thank you for your commitment and great service

I entered U.S as an Afghan immigrant not knowing anyone or anything about U.S immigration Law. I looked up online "Department of Justice" site for attorneys and I came across catholic charities and understood they accept walk-in consultants on Wednesdays. There, I met Smita Dazzo for a consultant abo...ut my case and its bases. Smita was very great and helpful, making sure I understood how everything works and that she needs a time to evaluate my case and will get in touch with me again. after a day or two, I received a call from her that she has decided to take on my case and started working on my case immediately. My case was Asylum and it was very complicated with so many things and people involved, my previous work with U.S Government in Afghanistan, the threats from country's unstable security reasons it was all military and very complex issues surrounding the case. If it wasn't for Smita, let alone handling the whole thing I would have never been able to sit in front of immigration officer alongside Smita with confidence because you know you have a great documentation and supported your case with all the documents necessary. Since, the case involved many people and documents from many individuals including in the U.S military. Smita, contacted this specific U.S military personnel on my behalf to get the supportive documents we needed for our case, after he didn't respond to an email she was very persuasive and very professional doing so, she ensured I have all the support I need to get my case approved and be remained in the United States. She also collected a country assessment report/letter from amnesty international describing the situations of Afghanistan which was big help supporting our bases. Smita was very helpful and patient with me while I was collecting the supportive documents I needed for my statement and our case, there were times I was late or didn't show for the meeting she made sure she was in contact with me following up on the tasks given to me to be completed and delivered. She was there in every step of the way and process of case with me, including during my interview with an immigration officer. Smita was so great, she handled everything so professionally in a timely manner that I got approved from immigration officer and department of homeland security within 10-12 months since I met her. I couldn't be happier knowing that I can safely live in this country with all the legal Alien rights. Everyone I know ask how did I get my case handled so quickly and professionally and got approved, all the credit goes to my lawyer she was great doing it so and making sure I get what I deserve. I strongly recommend Smita Rao Dazzo to anyone seeking for a help with immigration law in the United States. She has decided to help people who are in need, she works for Non-profit, I understand sometimes it can get too many people and work at the same time because of no fee or less fee, but you will never feel abandoned she is very caring and has great heart. Thank you Smita for your commitment helping people and great Service.

Smita was unprofessional

We were searching for the right immigration attorney who had a solid understanding of the process, the right experience and was professional. My husband went to the Catholic Charities consultation where he met Smita. She was thorough with the consult and provided a typed up document that lists the it...ems needed for our strategy meeting, should we decide to move forward. His initial hesitation was that she was concerned that we got married "too soon" and make inappropriate remarks about the legitimacy of our marriage. We initially thought she was being funny and ignored the comment. Despite the comment, we decided to hire Smita for her services, after the initial consultation. Smita was quick to respond with her availability and he set the appointment. She was hard to get in contact with the days leading up to the appointment and we were not able to reconfirm what was necessary for our strategy meeting via phone or email. We placed 2 phone calls and sent an email to inquire about confirming what is necessary. He went to the appointment and she was taken aback because I, the spouse, wasn't present. During the initial consultation, she did not clearly state this to my husband. When he was taking notes, she let him know that it wasn't necessary for him to write notes and that she was able to type them up for him. She even went as far as stating, "it's 2017, no one takes notes with pen and paper anymore." Smita arrived for the appointment at 9:10am (she was ten minutes late) and was not pleased to see just my husband. She stated that she did not feel comfortable moving forward becuase I wasn't there. He immediately sent me a text and I immediately called him to ask how we can still meet same day, since I had scheduled a client meeting the morning of the interview. After asking many questions about what options we had at this point, she was verbally combative. She mentioned that she had another meeting at 1:30pm and she had vacation right after that and she couldn't miss her lunch. She stated that we could reschedule with her in mid-June. He stated during the conversation that he was asking questions to make sure he knew what options we had. He stated that he tried to contact her about the appointment to make sure that he had everything that was required. He stated that he was trying to respectfully ask questions. He carried a calm tone with Smita, despite her getting more frustrated as he asked questions. Smita reemphasized that she was available mid-June and she gave him telephone numbers for other attorneys available. He asked if it was possible to hire an attorney and she responded yes and walked away. Smita was unprofessional and we did not use her for her services after the initial consultation.
