Excellent work

Even though I now live in New York, I had no hesitation on relying on Amy Novick's vast expertise in handling my application for permanent residency (green card). Although fairly straightforward, my case took longer than expected. But Amy never gave up, was always supportive and ready to answer my qu...eries. She was particularly on the ball toward the end of the process, when she alerted me immediately of a scarcely publicized change in procedure shortly before I had to submit my medical records and tests--USCIS never bothered informing me. In spite of the long wait and some anxiety in my part, which she handled remarkably well, Amy made the process as easy and stress free as possible. I would have no doubt in recommending Amy and her partners at Haynes Novick Immigration.

Couldn't say enough thank you to Amy

Amy is one of the very few lawyers who are not only extremely able professionally, but also compassionate and truly cares about her clients. 2016 spring, I was in a situation beyond desperate. In 2014, I moved here with my by then boyfriend, got married shortly after, and seperated at nearly one year... after married. Before Amy, my consulted countless lawyers, they either made me feel like I am just another client on the trail, or they don't know the difficulty of my case. Because my ex-husband and I only lived together for a little bit more than a year in the States, so we didn't have an established life, and we were both unemployed and new to the area during that time, so we just don't have any 'common friends" or even joint insurance. I was so hopeless at that time, because I don't have any family in USA and my ex-husband just couldn't realize my status was at stake and provided little help. It would be a lie if I said that I'd never had the idea of giving up, but when I thought if I gave up now, all the sacrifices I made for my ex-husband ( quitting a wonderful job in Beijing, left my family and moved here, 2 years of time, all the money I spent..etc) would just flush into the toilet. Until I found Amy by searching online, had I really ensured that even though I get divorced before 2 years anniversary, with minimum evidence, I can still legitimately renew my green card by providing solid evidence of a bona fide marriage. With that ensurance in mind, I was able to function and being less panic. During the following 5 months, prior to I officially got divorced, Amy walked me step by step on how to get all the evidence needed to file the I-751 waiver. She was always responsive, even on evenings and weekends. She told me exactly what kind of letter I would need from my ex mother-in-law, and our friends in China. She would explain it from the immigration officer's point of view to let me know what documents I need to get. And she even offered me tips on how to tackle with my ex-husband! I have opened myself to Amy on my personal issues, and Amy was so open and willing to offer help, and I was so appreciated that she really took care of it confidentially. I believe I am not the only one who has this personal trust about Amy, and this trust must be shared by all of her clients. After we filed the extension, I can't remember how many times I asked Amy about my status. I knew that she probably couldn't have a definite answer for me, but because of the Trump administration, the environment was just so intense and Amy was being patient all the time. Until yesterday, 20 days to a year since I filed my I-751 waiver, I got my approval notice. I have nothing to complain right now. During last year, my life has been through a wonderful transition, all I needed to secure my life here was this approval notice. Now I have it. I know that I probably don't have any legal needs from Amy anymore, but I hope all the clients can finish their cases with Amy wonderfully, just as I did. If Amy is representing your case, you are in good hands! I wish all the best for Amy, and I couldn't say enough thank you to her.

The Best Decision We've Ever Made

Our encounter with Amy started shortly after we received a devastating GC denial letter from USCIS. The letter requested me leave the US in a month stating that I failed to provide any documents that could waive my J1's 2-Year home residency requirements. I came to the states as an Au Pair from China.... Unlike most Au Pairs from other countries, my J-1 visa had a 2-Year home residency requirement that typically applies to exchange scholars sponsored with government funding or anyone with special skills. None of the above applied to me. Therefore after I was able to change my visa from J-1 to F-1 status, I really didn't think too much after I married my husband. Like many of my friends, I thought I could prepare all the paperwork myself and I couldn't be more wrong. I started dialing everyone on the list. I narrowed down my list to only two lawyers in DC. Amy was one of them. We went with our family lawyer to both consultations in hopes of deciding on one. We didn't choose Amy first because the other lawyer offered a cheaper rate. Our case required a couple steps. First was the advisory opinion from the department of the state that states I am not subject to 2-Year requirements; then we had to refile for my permanent resident status. I also had to apply for a J-1 waiver from Chinese embassy. My lawyer couldn't be of much help since the application process was all in Chinese. This lawyer was not proactive. When I asked him a few questions regarding my case, instead of advising me based on his professional opinion, he would ask me if he should or should not proceed. He was not good with communication and that made my anxiety even worse. As time went by, I know my confidence in him had gone downhill and I decided to ask Amy to help me with the rest of filing. My husband and family lawyer both expressed concern over changing to a different lawyer at this point but I knew I couldn't work with him any more. After working with Amy for about 6 months, I received my GC in Dec last year right before Christmas. It couldn't have been a better Christmas gift for us. There are three main reasons why Amy was a success for us and why you should hire her too. First and for most, she is extremely thorough in preparing a winning case. A friend of mine once complained about the fact that her immigration lawyer went with them to GC interview but seemed to know nothing about their case, it made them furious and never wanted to refer him. Amy made sure she knew every aspect of our case and she found a big issue with our last filling that was somehow missed by USCIS. My husband's income wasn't enough and we needed a co-sponsor. Once we got that figured out, she finally considered it ready to be resubmitted. She was right. Secondly, she is very good with communication. I believe a great lawyer knows how to address clients' needs by providing timely correspondence. Amy never had me waiting for a response more than a day. Any questions that we had, she made sure to answer promptly. Unlike some lawyers who have their associates to correspond with clients to great extent, Amy emailed or talked to us directly for the most part. We felt our case was being taken care of by an immigration lawyer that actually cared about us and her work. Last but not least, she is such a compassionate lawyer who also addressed our emotional needs. One thing that my previous lawyer never provided was compassion. After all, not everyone is capable of compassion. We could feel that for her, we were not just another client but someone who needed her help and someone she was ready to help. She listened to our stories and recognized our anxiety and fear. She was kind and capable. It was such a great experience with her that we couldn't be happier that she was our lawyer. We were very fortunate to have her and I hope if you are in need of great help facing a devastating immigration situation like we did, Amy is certainly the one to go for. We truly recommend her

She is the best lawyer I have met in my life...

Its my pleasure to write a review for Ms. Amy Novick. I had a major immigration problem in the airport when I came to the US for the second time from India. I was given a stay of one month in the US from the airport authorities. My girl friend was a US citizen but we did not know how to proceed with ...the case. We consulted numerous lawyers. Most of them asked us to go back to India and file papers from there. We were very confused and worried. We did not know how to tackle this situation. We heard good things about Ms. Amy from online searches. The office was kind enough to schedule an emergency appointment with her. Though we spent more than hour discussing about our case, she still charged us for one hour. This is in contrast to some lawyers who could not even spare us anytime to discuss the case and were charging for just a call on the phone. When we met her for the first time, she was very thorough with the immigration laws. She did not give us any false hopes or promises. She treated my girlfriend as her own daughter and advised our family what she would do if she was in our place instead. She did an outstanding job from the very beginning to the end of the case. We are getting married soon and this is happening mostly because of Ms. Novick. I wanted to write, and thank you for all your help. Starting from the initial advice, to taking us through the process, your guidance has brought us to this happy conclusion. We are both thrilled, as is the whole family. Thank you, very very much.

Excellent Immigration attorney

Amy helped me with my student and exchange visa questions. She was extremely knowledgeable and was able to resolve all my questions promptly. She went above and beyond what was required to help me. Navigating all the issues and paperwork involved with visas can be daunting, but Amy always made me... feel comfortable and helped allay a lot of my worries and fears. She never made me feel rushed or like "just another immigration client". I will definitely be using Amy's services in the future.
