David Matthew Verhey

David Verhey's practice concentrates on counseling and representation of clients with business interests in national security, information technology, cyber security, and government contracts. He helps companies and institutions manage risk, comply with government regulations, and resolve disputes and investigations. He also assists clients with due diligence and corporate organization, including operating and buy-sell agreements. David is a frequent conference speaker and an author of articles on security and technology, including big data, the internet of thigns, insider threat mitigation, and privacy policy. He is also the founder and principal of SDS Advisors LLC, a technology advisory firm. He is cleared TS/SCI.

David's legal career has spanned almost twenty years including stints in private practice and government service. He formerly served as a Senior Advisor and Counsel in the Department of Defense, where he supported IT development, cyber security, classified contracts, and counter-terrorism programs.

Prior to joining the Department of Defense, he was a partner in a national law firm, a senior executive at the Interior Department, and counsel to the California Governor. David began his career as a trial and appellate attorney in the California Department of Justice, where he successfully handled federal and state litigation involving criminal databases, major state procurements, and constitutional issues.
