Extremely knowledgeable, thoroughly professional -- highly recommended

I have engaged Tom Cummins for legal advice three times. These issues related to corporate malfeasance, financial matters, and homeowners association governance, underscoring the breadth and diversity of his legal expertise. I would engage him again without hesitation. In each case, I requested,... and received, an in-depth legal analysis of the situation, and an understanding of my legal options, in order to make decisions on how to proceed and what actions to take (or avoid). Tom provided a clear explanation (with documentation) of the relevant laws, how they are applied in practice in the legal community and courts, and the complexities of how the legal system actually works. (In my case, the Fairfax courts, which Tom knows first-hand and thoroughly.) Tom provided candid and pragmatic assessments of each of my cases -- strengths, weaknesses, probabilities of outcomes. The bottom lines were not necessarily what I had hoped to hear, but they were what I needed to hear. Understanding reality is critical -- perhaps the most important outcome of my time with Tom -- and prepared me to make well-informed and realistic decisions. Although Tom is a litigator, he helped me understand why litigation -- despite my interest -- is not always the best approach. Rather, he identified alternative approaches which resulted in more successful outcomes than I would otherwise have achieved. But if in the future litigation is warranted, there is no one I would better trust with my case than Tom. Underscoring his integrity and ethics, Tom was honest and forthright in explaining what cases he would not take and what areas of practice he would refer to another attorney. He met the agreed plan on deliverables and meetings, and was flexible in accommodating my schedule. He was well-prepared for our meetings, organized and disciplined in productively using our meeting time, and he adhered to the estimated fees. In all, Tom Cummins is extremely knowledgeable; honest, candid and ethical; thoroughly professional, and I highly recommend him.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I would strongly recommend Tom Cummins to represent any business in complex litigation in state or federal court. Tom explained complex legal concepts in a simple, easy to understand manner that gave us the confidence we needed to make strategic decisions throughout the litigation process. Equally important, Tom genuinely cared about our success and well-being throughout the litigation process. We viewed Tom as our partner in the litigation process, not just "our lawyer". Tom's skill and compassion, coupled with his reasonable and transparent billing practices, made him the best choice to represent our interests in bet-the-company litigation. Finally, results speak for themselves. Tom recovered 100% of the amount in dispute, 100% of our litigation costs (including Tom's fees), and 100% of the interest we claimed on the amount in dispute. Tom delivered a complete victory against an opponent who had significantly greater financial and litigation resources than we did."
