Outstanding lawyer

Erich is a superb lawyer. He is very knowledgable in his field. He responded to all of my questions and requests timely and patiently. He worked very hard to make it possible for our organization to start advancing and implementing its mission. He never quit even when it seemed close to impossible to... resolve some of the issues. Working with Erich is effortless and fantastically stress free. I recommend him without reservation.

Not Recommended for Businesses

We worked with Mr. Ferrari for a little while before switching to a more established law firm. Although he may be a good option for adhoc work such as personal matters, I do not recommend him for businesses for two main reasons: 1. Unfortunately instead of focusing on solving our problems, he seemed... to be more concerned about how he could increase his billable hours. Instead of getting to the point and answering some of our routine questions, he would send us various unsolicited "client letters" for which he claimed to have spent some amount of time that to us seemed disproportionately large and unnecessary. 2. His legal advice on a couple matters turned out to be incorrect, once we checked with a more experienced sanctions lawyer. Given that it may not be easy to find a sanctions lawyer for personal matters - since most of them work for big law firms who usually work with bigger clients - Mr. Ferrari's firm could be a viable option for such cases. Otherwise, I think you'd be better off with another firm.

I was very disappointed to read this review. We don't work on many personal matters anymore, and are mostly focused on working with more sophisticated clientele, who have always been pleased with our work. Most disturbing was the belief that we are focused on billable hours, as opposed to solving issues. I can't believe that someone would make this accusation against us, given how flexible we have been on billing over the years. There have been fee disputes in the past, but we have always been able to address those in a way satisfactory to the client. Also, while I'm not perfect, I don't recall a time when our advice has been found to be incorrect. Indeed, we actually advise other "more experienced sanctions lawyers" at "big firms", and have never heard any kind of suggestion that our advice was inaccurate. Any client who could demonstrate to me that they received a different legal opinion and it turned out to be correct as opposed to ours would have received a 100% refund of any fees paid. We take a lot of pride in our work product, and we strive to make these cases affordable for anyone who wants to hire us. We only practice in the field of U.S. economic sanctions because it is a labor of love, not because it's a business for us. This is why we are so vocal in our writing, and speaking on the subject. I'm not sure what happened here to compel someone to make these types of comments, but I can assure any future, potential clients that the representations made here are not reflective of who we are or how we do business. If the person who wrote this would contact me, I would like to discuss how we can provide you a refund as I don't like to take money from people who are unsatisfied with their experience. Thank you, Erich C. Ferrari

"I have had the distinct privilege of knowing attorney Erich Ferrari since 2010. Erich is a great source of the US sanctions laws against Iran and has educated the Iranian-American community throughout the US in this matter by conducting numerous educational seminars nationwide. I have referred many clients to Erich with great results. He handles Federal Regulations and Federal Crimes cases with competence and success. One of Erich’s books on the laws of US sanctions against Iran is used as a reference and educational material by many other lawyers dealing with the US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) cases. I have been honored to be on a panel with him discussing the laws of sanction and found him to have a profound understanding of the law. In addition, Erich is extremely humble and possesses an exceptional human demeanor. Thanks for educating all of us, Erich. I endorse Erich Ferrari very strongly for the areas of law he practices."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
