Lawsuits and Disputes 30%

I have represented clients in connection with a broad range of disputes, including but not limited to breach of contract, fraud, unfair and deceptive trade practice, fair debt collection practices, insurance coverage, and antitrust violations. I also represent clients in employment discrimination cases and in civil right cases, but these cases overlap with other listed practice areas.

Personal Injury 30%

This practice area includes lawsuits seeking compensation for people who have suffered injuries, or passed away, as a result of someone else's negligence or even intentional misconduct.

Business 10%

This practice area includes the drafting and review of a broad range of contracts, including LLC/corporation formation & operating agreements, employment agreements, sales contracts, services contracts, government contracts, licensing agreements, and distribution agreements. My experience as a former general counsel and entrepreneur allows me to view contracts from both the legal and business perspectives.

10%
Civil Rights 10%

This practice area includes lawsuits wherein individuals claim that their civil rights have been violated. For example, I, alongside now-U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, represented a young man who was held in prison for 20 years for a crime he did not commit and sought justice against the city and the police officers who fabricated evidence leading to his conviction.

Criminal Defense 10%

I have represented clients in criminal matters ranging from petty larceny to hostage taking and piracy under the law of nations (which carries a mandatory minimum life sentence).

Employment and Labor 10%

While at Covington & Burling, my employment practice was entirely on behalf of the defense. As a general counsel, I drafted and negotiated employment agreements on behalf of my employer. At Clinton & Peed, a good portion of our practice is on behalf of employees who allege breach of contract or discrimination, although I occasionally represent defendants with meritorious cases.

Exceptional legal and business acumen. Prompt. Professional.

My firm hired Tim Clinton recently to help us iron out a complex operating agreement. Beyond his legal acument, what impressed me most about Tim was that he had: 1) a very strong understanding of the nuts and bolts of business, including accounting 2) the desire and ability to help us create incentiv...es that would keep members wanting to honor the agreement, rather than having to honor the agreement. Tim came through for us in a huge way; he was prompt and he charged a very reasonable rate. I unreservedly recommend him and look forward to working with him again.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
