We empower seriously injured people to understand their rights and obtain the financial relief they deserve so they can focus on healing and living their best life. We help injured individuals tell their stories to skeptical insurance companies. Fighting big insurance companies is necessary when someone is seriously injured and cannot work. We do a lot of hand-holding to overcome the roadblocks and hassles put in the way of wounded people. Our clients have suffered a physical injury, usually by car accident, falls on property, or negligent supervision in schools.
McLean Higgins Injury Law is a personal injury firm dedicated to empowering those who have been seriously injured. Located in Newark, Dover, and Bethany Beach, Delaware, our attorneys provide compassionate guidance and strategic advocacy to help clients navigate the complexities of their cases. We are committed to fighting for the financial relief their clients deserve so that they can focus on recovery.
Mary has valuable insight into how best to represent her plaintiff clients, having defended large corporations in complex multi-party litigation (before she decided she should be on the other side). She has also performed pro bono representations and was appointed as a guardian ad litem in Delaware Chancery Court to oversee the affairs of a developmentally challenged adult subjected to abuse. She served as a Fair Hearing Officer for the State of Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, conducting Fair Hearings.
Mary has always followed a passion for public service. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Public Administration before going to law school. Based on her record of public service, she was chosen by the University of Delaware College of Urban Affairs and Public Policy to receive a Public Service Fellowship. In addition, she was chosen as a Graduate Woman of Excellence and became a Legislative Fellow with the Delaware State Senate Majority Caucus. The Legislative Fellows Program is a joint partnership of the Delaware General Assembly and the University of Delaware’s Institute for Public Administration.
In law school, Mary was a member of Phi Delta Phi Harrington Inn Honor Society and represented Widener University School of Law for the Philadelphia Bar Association Judge Irvin Stander Memorial Prize in Administrative Law. She was awarded a certificate of achievement in Administrative Law. After law school, Mary served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable William L. Witham, Jr., in Delaware Superior Court.
Mary currently lives in Delaware with her husband. Together, they have often served as an American family homestay to international students learning English at the University of Delaware English Language Institute.

Professional, Knowledgable, Conscientious
Mary helped us out of a very tough situation in which the other party was trying to use the law to enforce a contract that was extremely unfair and questionable at best. She explained the situation to use very clearly, letting us know early on that we would owe the other party something but that what...
