Jerold S. Berschler

I was referred to Mr. Berschler by another attorney who stated that he was the best. Not. I ended up firing him. #1. I asked him to file my divorce as “with cause”, because I had proof that it was appropriate. He did not, and then when I inquired into the progress, he said it was too late to fi...le “with cause” and that I should just sign the “no fault” papers presented by my husband’s attorney. ( it actually turned out that it was not too late and he could have counter filed.) # 2. He did not file for custody in the beginning and told me there was no point in filing for support early on as my husband “was paying the bills”. This advice caused huge problems down the road. #3. When he called to update me he was usually in his car driving home. Hard to believe he was committed to doing a good job for me when his phone contacts seemed like afterthoughts. #4. His treatment of my case was simply pro forma with no apparent consideration given to my situation financially, or my life as a single parent with 2 small children. #5. The last straw was his inability to understand the complexities of several parts of my husband’s job which impacted the settlement negatively. I fired him. The divorce began 1999 and took several years and cost many, many thousands of dollars, most of which was paid to Mr. Berschler. To this day my life is impacted by his actions.

Jerry was my attorney through a very difficult, protracted divorce from a truly unreasonable person. His guidance was ALWAYS correct, and he knew from experience which battles to fight, and which would be expensive and futile, no matter how upset I was. Perhaps of most value is his reputation in the ...county courthouses. He has such a reputation as a reasonable attorney with reasonable solutions and proposals, someone who clearly has talked clients down from the ledge and gotten them to be realistic. This means that when he proposes a settlement or a solution, everybody listens. THIS is the person to have on your side. Yes, sometimes it's hard to hear, "you're absolutely right, but you'd be wasting your time and money and we would not win that point." But he's right. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Jerry was extremely attentive, explained everything clearly, understood the finances around my case was extremely responsive to emails and phone calls. He makes you feel comfortable but is also a very well-informed Lawyer who is willing to go the extra mile for you. You can tell that he genuinely c...ares about his clients. Overall, he did a great job for me and I would highly recommend him.

I am so lucky to have found Jerry to handle my case.
