No this will not affect your eligibility for citizenship in any way. You have been a resident long enough to apply now to become a citizen.

Either way works. Perhaps visiting the United States and picking a college while you are here is an easier process.

Your application is still pending. Perhaps you should talk with your designated school official or hire an attorney to assist in your process.
