You will most likely have problems trying to use that visa as well because of the deportation.. You can try but could be refused entry.

Your immigration violations in Canada have no bearing on possibilities for getting a visa to the US as long as there is no criminal history.

Well the C-9 code is for a pending adjustment of status case. You have a validly issued work permit so there should be no issue with the driver...

No you cannot work legally until you have an employment authorization document.

They kept your passport so they could verify your entries and to have a travel document to deport you if that is the final result from the Judge.
