In 2011, the Legal Clinic for the Disabled (LCD) established PhilaKIDS, a Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) with St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. LCD knew that many families we served had immigration law issues, but we were unable to meet those needs. Audrey Allen Immigration Law stepped in to... fill that void and has been an invaluable partner ever since. LCD’s clients are low-income, living with physical disabilities or caring for children with special health care needs, and often struggling to meet basic needs. Their immigration issues compound those stressors and often lead to increased anxiety and uncertainty. The families LCD serves cannot afford a lawyer, and many report that they have already been deceived by someone who promised to help. Whenever I refer a family to Audrey and her team, I always say, “I trust them and so can you.” I appreciate having colleagues who I respect and who I know will deliver the compassionate and comprehensive legal services that the clients need and deserve.
