OUTCOME: Case dismissed.
I represented a woman falsely accused of battering a co-worker. After a brief hearing, the Judge dismissed all charges.
OUTCOME: Full dismissal of all charges
My client was accused of affray and disrupting a public school. She was not guilty of these offenses and we refused to accept anything other than a not guilty verdict or a complete dismissal. After m ... onths of attempting to reason with the prosecutor, we were finished. We were ready for trial. The State attempted to stall once more, telling the Judge she needed a continuance for an out-of-state witness who had never so much as corresponded with her. We objected to any continuance and announced ready for trial. We had thoroughly prepared and knew the State would never be able to prove its case because my client was not guilty of all charges. Although we had tried to reason with the State for months, the prosecutor finally come to her senses only seconds before trial. Once she realized we were not backing down, she dismissed all charges in the case. Justice may not be swift, but in this case it certainly was sweet.
