Michael James McLaughlin

Michael J. McLaughlin is an Associate at Butler Pappas. Michael graduated from Arcadia University, Bachelor of Arts in 2004 and obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2008 from Temple University. He focuses his practice on first party coverage disputes, bad faith litigation, and casualty defense litigation. Michael has successfully represented insurers in a variety of complex coverage disputes in both state and federal courts. He has significant experience in oral argument, alternative dispute resolution, drafting pleadings and briefs, and taking depositions. Michael has taken Examinations Under Oath of policyholders and drafted coverage opinions on complicated matters. He has overseen numerous inspections of residential and commercial properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

In addition, Michael has defended both insured and self-insured clients in complex casualty defense litigation, including cases involving personal injury, premises liability and product liability. 

Michael previously worked as a law clerk for Judge Susan Peikes Gantman of the Pennsylvania Superior Court, where he had primary research and writing responsibilities on appellate matters. Michael is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
