Bottom line: I would hire Matt Sedacca again (hope I never need to though). Case Outcomes 1. Criminal matter: I was not guilty and the judge agreed. The case moved fast and Matt and the DA were ready to go on trial day, which I think is a good thing because nobody wants open charges on their re...cord for a long duration. Matt was clearly familiar with the Philadelphia judicial system and knew what to expect in court: what the judge would want to know, what evidence the DA would show, and what to focus on in cross-examination, my testimony, and the closing argument. His prior experience as an ADA was also helpful. 2. Civil matter: I made an agreement that will end in dismissal. Matt answered my questions and gave me the information I needed to make a decision (agreement vs. trial) while clearly stating he was open to going to trial as well. Given how the law and system works, I think this turned out well and with the lowest risk possible. Competence and Results I would highlight three strengths in particular: Knowledge of the law and the system, including Philadelphia specifically. Cross-examination skills. He knows what a witness might leave out, exaggerate, or hesitate to answer, which can create doubt about their credibility if exposed. Matt has a composed yet strong demeanor, which is good. Closing argument. He summed the pitch up well and clearly tied the evidence and reasonable doubt to the charges. Communication and Responsiveness Matt returned calls, texts, and emails promptly. He set realistic expectations and did not overpromise. Kelly (paralegal) and his partner Marc were both very helpful as well. Professionalism and Advocacy Matt genuinely believed I was not guilty. He treated me respectfully and listened to what I thought was important and what I thought the other side would bring up. He represented me well. Honesty About the Cases Matt is good at being honest and giving hard truths. After the not guilty criminal verdict, he advised that I at least consider accepting the agreement for the civil case, which I ultimately decided was the safer route. In the criminal case, he presented all options and made sure I understood the risks. Billing Transparency Billing was transparent – I paid a retainer fee up front. Matt’s work costs X per hour. If his hourly pay goes above the cost of the retainer, I would need to pay more. Some document/evidence requests may be charged to the client. Overall Matt handled a criminal matter and a civil matter for me. The criminal matter turned out perfectly – not guilty – and the civil matter resolved with an agreement because I viewed it as the avenue of least risk.

Matt was enormously helpful during a difficult period for my son. Matt was responsive to all my calls and emails and he was able to relate to my son- empathetic yet candidly honest about all the likely outcomes for his actions. Matt was able to assist my son and obtain a result that allowed my son... to continue his college career, and obtain a great job after graduation. Far exceeding our expectations.
