Joseph Lawrence Doherty IV

Joseph L. Doherty, IV is a civil litigator with experience in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters.  Joe has represented plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts in matters involving claims of minority shareholder oppression, professional malpractice, consumer fraud, and breach of restrictive covenants.  He also has experience with insurance, real estate, and constitutional matters.

Joe has an undergraduate degree in history from Emory University.  He received his law degree, summa cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law.  At Villanova, Joe served as a staff writer and Managing Editor of the Villanova Law Review.  Upon graduation, he received the St. Ives Medal for graduating first in his class.

Prior to joining Spector Gadon & Rosen, Joe worked at the Philadelphia office of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP.  Joe began his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Phyllis A. Kravitch on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta.

Joe and his family reside in the East Falls section of Philadelphia.  He is actively involved in political and civic activities, including serving on the Zoning Committee of the East Falls Community Council and volunteering for local political campaigns.  Joe's pro bono legal work includes representing several community and civic groups in constitutional and zoning matters in courts and before administrative agencies.
