James Kennedy joined Cozen O'Connor as a member in the Real Estate Department in Philadelphia. Jim has extensive experience in complex corporate and real estate finance, securitization, financial services, mortgage banking and commercial real estate transactions. He regularly represents clients in real estate and related finance matters, mortgage banking and general corporate transactions.
For the past six years Jim has been senior vice president and general counsel to a real estate company that owns and operates a large portfolio of real estate investments, particularly multifamily residential apartments and student housing, as well as a mortgage bank and a private equity group with diversified holdings. Jim has personally supervised the negotiation and closing of many sophisticated acquisitions, sales, joint ventures, mergers and financing transactions.
Jim graduated cum laude from Villanova Law School in 2001. Last year Jim was honored with Philadelphia Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” Award, which recognizes young business leaders who are making an impact before their 40th birthday. Jim also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
