James Neil Hendershot

James N. Hendershot’s practice is concentrated in complex commercial litigation and civil litigation, including complex business disputes and insurance matters.  Prior to joining Braverman Kaskey, James served as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Daniel J. Clifford of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas and, before that, Law Clerk to the Hon. Bernard A. Moore of the same court.  

James is a third-generation graduate of Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law.  During law school, James served as a judicial intern for the Hon. Christopher C. Conner of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the Hon. Thomas P. Rogers of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, and the Hon. Anne E. Lazarus of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.  James also served as a Senior Editor on Penn State’s Journal of Law and International Affairs, and graduated from Dickinson Law School as a member of the Woolsack Honors Society, an honor given to those students in the top 15% of their class.

Prior to law school, James lived in Baoding, China for six months, teaching classes as an oral English instructor.  As a teacher, James presented self-prepared lessons to classes of upwards of 50 Chinese students each weekday, a task complicated by his inability to speak Mandarin.  The job required creative thinking; strategic planning paired with flexibility; clear communication; and the daily presentation of prepared material—skills universally transferable to litigation.

Before living in China, James graduated summa cum laude from Susquehanna University with a B.A. in History, a minor in Business Administration, and University Honors.  James also rowed on the university’s crew team, and holds the school’s lightweight men’s record for fastest 500-meter sprint.

James believes that there is no substitute for hard work, attention to detail, and clear communication in the presentation of a case.  He strives to provide the highest level of client service in every case and for every client, while adhering to the highest ethical standards.  James is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
