Catherine A. Rothenberger

Ms. Rothenberger joins the firm with three decades of combined nursing and legal experience. At Kolsby Gordon, she focuses her practice on assisting injured patients and their families with medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury claims.

After working in pediatric care and neonatal intensive care units at hospitals in the Philadelphia area, Ms. Rothenberger felt a desire to help patients who had experienced medical mistakes as the result of poor or negligent treatment.

With her extensive healthcare background, Ms. Rothenberger has become a tenacious advocate for her clients. When a patient is unsure of how to approach the complex world of medicine, Ms. Rothenberger’s meticulous and thorough review of their medical records provides vital information for the presentation of a strong case.

Any case where a family or their loved one suffers harm can be profoundly impactful, but cases involving injuries to children have much meaning to Ms. Rothenberger. With her background in intensive pediatric care, she takes great interest in assisting these families through a time that is not only physically and emotionally draining, but often financially devastating.

She has helped families who have experienced birth injuries as the result of failure on behalf of medical staff to appropriately monitor fetal distress, failure to correctly assess and perform breech birth, and failure to treat lacerations during the delivery process. It is in her work with these families, who are now caring for a child with 24/7-needs, that she finds the motivation to provide all clients with the legal representation they need to move forward with their lives.

Ms. Rothenberger began her career as a nurse focusing on pediatric and neonatal care. For over 20 years, Ms. Rothenberger worked at hospitals throughout the Philadelphia area and developed a thorough understanding of the complexity of medicine and healthcare.

After transitioning into the legal field, and working briefly for defense firms that represented major hospitals and their insurers, Ms. Rothenberger felt disconnected from the patients she had once set out to care for. Now, as a plaintiff’s attorney, she feels satisfied knowing that her work helps families through difficult experiences, helping them understand the medicine and how the legal system can assist them.

Ms. Rothenberger serves on the advisory board of St. Basil the Great Catholic School in Phoenixville, PA. She is also a Eucharistic Minister for her local parish, and spends her Sundays visiting sick or injured residents in her Parish.
