So on a Friday night, I went up to Manhattan to see a friend we had dinner then I left as he lived with his parents in the Bronx and I was only 19 at the time and could not qualify for a hotel room. I was originally supposed to be up there for the weekend, so late that Friday night I took the Lincoln... tunnel back over to Jersey and decided it would be fine to sleep in my car. I ended up sleeping in a Raymour and Flanigan parking lot Secaucus NJ, however I forgot that I had at the time an airsoft pistol with me specifically in my glove box, as I felt it was a safe place to store it. I had the night before just finished playing airsoft with some buddies of mine in Pennsylvania where I live. I bought the gun legally in PA without a license to carry requiring, only my drivers license for age verification, as airsoft, is legal in the state of Pennsylvania. Anyway, it was late at night in Secaucus so I pulled into the parking lot and I parked sideways across the parking spaces and fell asleep a few hours later around 6 AM, Secaucus PD responded to report of a suspicious vehicle, (my car) my vehicle had a fabric covered on the windows to block out the ambient light from the parking lot so I could get some decent sleep which I suppose drew suspicion. I was awakened by the officer who informed me of the report. And I asked to see my license registration and insurance I briefly remembered that I had the gun in the glove box so before opening the glove box, I notified the officer who then told me to step out of the car, where he would then pass to search the vehicle. After the gun was found I was arrested on a felony possession of a firearm a third-degree felony in the state of New Jersey was booked, processed, and then released pending a court hearing.
