406 is where protracted (meaning long) hearings take place. Must be tried means that the DA must put up the case or it may be dismissed.

Sounds like a good idea. You will need a solid independent contractor agreement and speak to your insurance agent.

No idea since we do not know what the prior record score is. If the person has a bad record then yes very possible jail is an option.

Unless you have a bad record or live out of state then the bail should be ROR or SOB which means no money posted.
What does held for court (lower courts) mean? Will he be held in jail until 3/8/16 or Will they have a hearing today 2/18/16?
