A Great Disservice

I was given Mr. Huggett as a pro bono lawyer in a domestic violence case. He rarely returned my calls. He made it seem that with be easier to plead guilty to a disorderly persons offense and not have it go to trial. It was like he didn't want to be bothered with it going to trial. I tried to explain... to him that being a nurse and pleading guilty to this charge would affect my nursing career, he assured me it wouldn't. On my court date he didn't bring any of my paper work or files. He said that if I plead guilty, I would be on probation and have to attend a domestic violence class. Well probation meant, meeting with a parole officer once a week for a year, random drug screens, and I have to attend 26 weeks of a domestic violence class. Now that I'm looking for a job as a nurse, I am unable to get employment because of the disorderly persons. He did me a great disservice.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
