Attorney Joseph Mattia is an exceptional attorney. He’s very professional, knowledgeable and filled with empathy for his clients. And by the grace of God, this was the only law firm I found willing to t...ake my case on a denied accidental insurance policy death claim..I took a chance, called them and immediately knew I’d made the right decision. From the initial online interview, I was advised that Boonswanger Law Firm would accept my case. After the initial investigative work, I was introduced to Joseph, he contacted me that he would be handling my case. I really had mixed feelings initially because this was not a very lucrative case in monetary terms. However, throughout this endeavor I was treated as though Joseph was handling a million dollar case. He never failed to immediately answer my texts, he constantly kept me informed of everything as the case progressed, more importantly was his sincere empathy for me as a person and the horrendous death of my loved one. Honestly, with the unscrupulous practices of some insurance companies, I never really believed I would get nearly the sum Joseph got fir me. He was diligent, sincere, professional, patient and sincerely concerned that I received a positive outcome..and I did. There are not many law firms that would take on the the large insurance companies for minimal financial results…I found one and recommend this firm to anyone. Joe was incredibly forthcoming and responsive from the beginning. Emotions sometimes ran high due to the sensitive nature of insurance cases and her adeptly and professionally validated our experience while also pointing us to the practical steps moving forward. He strategized in a way that highlight...s how deeply he thinks about our case. Always easy to get a hold of, through phone and email. At the end, our case resolved in a satisfactory manner that I don’t think could’ve happened if we didn’t have Joe as our attorney.

I hired Joe to help appeal a claim on my father’s life insurance policy (which had lapsed a few months prior to his death due to extenuating circumstances, after decades of him never missing a payment). I wasn’t sure what to expect since I found his law firm by searching online, but he was phenomenal.... I really hadn’t expected to recover anything knowing how insurance companies work, but Joe reached a settlement on my behalf for 90% of the policy’s value—far exceeding my expectations. I can’t recommend Joe highly enough for anyone in a dispute of this kind. He was perfectly responsive, providing updates along the way (these things are often extended over many months by the insurance company); he was clear and always happy to answer questions; he was willing to fight hard (he negotiated up twice on the settlement value), unwilling to rest until we reached the maximum number anyone could’ve expected from this situation. Joe was also a profoundly decent human being, which may sound like a “nice to have” rather than a “must have” in an attorney, but it actually counts for quite a lot in a stressful, high-stakes situation like this. I’m sure that people’s reviews for lawyers are primarily influenced by outcomes following from their specific situations (much of which is outside the lawyer’s control), and by a lawyer’s willingness to take on a case (which contingency-fee lawyers need to be a little selective about, understandably), so it’s hard to know what to think when vetting law firms. But I will say this: I contacted Joe’s law firm with essentially no expectations (the life insurance policy in question *had* lapsed—that was the bottom line), and he not only took the case, but persisted for months and eventually reached a settlement that was almost the entire value of the policy. I would 100% recommend Joe to anyone in a similar situation.
