The important thing is to show ties to the US and an intent to return to the US. otherwise the government will say that you abandoned your green card.

Optional practical training (OPT) allows students to work in a job related to their studied. Basic OPT is one year.

F-1 visas are for those who wish to study in the US.

Generally speaking, a person born in the US is a citizen at birth. Just be aware that the mother might have a hard time at visa renewal time.
