CLS Attorney

Devon Sanders is the kind of "free attorney" that gives pro bono, public defenders a bad name. While he is very knowledgeable in consumer law and the litigation process, he does not advocate with the vigor and tenacity needed, to go up against these mortgage attorneys. His trustworthiness is average..., because at times you don't know whose side he is on. His responsiveness is horrible, and he can go months even years without even as much as an email. He is quite knowledgeable in his field, but does not use that knowledge, to be an effective advocate for his client. He never kept me informed about what was going on, until days before a hearing. He is extremely aggressive and demeaning in his approach. He says he is going after the bank with full force, but his courtroom actions, show an attorney ready to settle at all costs and throw his client under the bus. He says one thing but does another, and he gives very mixed messages, leaving someone not versed in the law hanging. A prime example, is when he said that, he would litigate the attorney fees placed against me by the banks attorney, but then he changed his mind, saying he might; knowing the legal fee's were substantial. He has kept my case going for years with no resolution. He never set up a system, where monies could be set aside monthly, to address the back balance. When I asked him about filing bankruptcy, to avoid a lengthy litigation process, he continually dissuaded me; yet he is suppose to be knowledgeable in bankruptcy law. Working with him never got me anywhere, as a matter of fact I am worse off, because I am close to losing my home. I will leave with these words from him which I will quote: "why do you want to stay in that house anyway, move out and go into subsidized housing." Hopefully after reading this (and unfortunately I have to still use this "free Attorney"), make a wise and prudent decision, to only use him as a last resort. If your family can get an attorney that will fight for your rights, please do that. Devon Sanders will drag you along and then blame you for your own situation. A lot of his approach I believe is due to arrogance on his part, and his disdain for the lower class, poor black community. It is evident from his entire approach, that he believes that black women are not entitled, to the basic human need of adequate housing. His misogynistic approach toward poor women, especially black women, is manifested in his condescending behavior. If you can get another attorney do so. Run, don't walk, and remember your home is your greatest asset. It is filled with both good and bad memories. It is not a house it is a home, and do all you can to save it. If you work with Devon Sanders he will string you along until the end, and then advise you to walk away, and threaten to not continue representing you, as a form of coercion, which is a dastardly act.

Fast talker, no results!

I was unlucky enough to have him as an attorney for a consumer issue. He never returned calls and his actions caused the mortgage company to start the foreclosure process on my home. The only way I could talk to him is when I did a pop up at his office. He gave me bad legal advice that I wish that ...I never followed. To this day, my credit score has dropped tremendously because I did what he said. I had to finally get someone else to resolve my issue. I DO NOT recommend him! If you can get someone else to help you, it would save you a lot of headache. I know lawyers are overwhelmed with cases, but his lack of concern and contact was ridiculous!
