My client was charged with an Assault Causing Bodily Injury - Family Violence, class A misdemeanor. The "complainant" claimed that my client had assaulted him with a piece of the bed, which the compla ... inant had just broken apart during an argument. I was able to show that not only was the complainant the agressor, but that he had assaulted my client and that there was a witness who told the police that night. Officers ignored the marks on my clients face, claimed that there were none, despite them being visible in photos and arrested her. Initially, the DAs office offered to reduce her offense to a class c assault. After our refusal and demand for trial, they backed down. Her case was dismissed after she agreed to complete an anger management course
