I was facing a wrongful charge of Retail Theft due to an error with a merchant’s Returns system (long story). I tried for weeks to contact someone at the merchant’s corporate headquarters to explain what happened and have the charge withdrawn. But no one would get back to me, and the court date wa...s fast approaching. The matter was somewhat complex and I knew I’d be in over my head trying to explain the situation to the Judge, so I contacted the local Bucks County Bar Association for an attorney referral. I was at first a little skeptical when they asked for $40, but I agreed, and they recommended Mr. Schatz. After a very attentive and informative consultation with Mr. Schatz, I felt strongly that I wanted him to represent me. The unexpected bonus was that the nature of my case was also in need of his partner’s experience (Ms. Stancu). After reading both of their profiles and client reviews, I was thrilled to have them both representing me, which involved only a minimal increase over what one attorney would have cost. As the court date approached, I had not heard from either of them and I became concerned that my case was not being attended to. So at that point, I actually emailed them offering to pay more to make sure my case was getting the required attention; but they quickly replied saying not to worry and that I’m “in good hands”. To be honest, I was still worried. Then, the day before the court date, I received a call from both of them (conference call) letting me know that they have been working on the case but did not want to give me false hope before they had confirmation that THE CHARGE WAS GOING TO BE WITHDRAWN ! I could not believe it. And I did not even have to appear in court the next day. As it turned out, retaining Mr. Schatz and Ms. Stancu was one of the best decisions and expenditures I’ve ever made. I thank God for them ! Sincerely.

Bottom line, I would recommend hiring Dan for any criminal matter. Except maybe triple homicide. His solo practice may not have the resources now. Maybe in a couple of years. I found Dan by accident after he was assigned to my case by one of the larger criminal defense firms he practiced at prior... to going solo. He appeared with me at the first Preliminary Hearing in the Municipal Township Court. (To determine if there is enough evidence to send it up for trial at the County Court). I wa a pain but he was great! "I kept telling him no deal. I'm not taking a deal. No probation. Not even 3 or 6 months." I explained to him that the job environment where I worked was volatile, and I did not want to have to wait a year to make a move because of this showing up on my record. Or worse, I did not want to have an offer rescinded because I was on probation for six months or more. He said okay, he'll see what he can do. Then he went to talk to the Prosecutor. Twenty minutes later he tells me he got the Prosecutor to agree to drop the charges but I'd have to see a counselor for anger management who would need to report on my progress to the Court. If I agreed, they would ask the Judge for a 2 month recess so I can complete my anger management. I told him, "No Deal! I don't have anger issues." That's when he really ripped into me and told me how stubborn I was being. He said it's a really good deal, and I should take the deal. That is exactly what I would want from my lawyer. He really listened to my concerns up front and fought like heck to get me what I wanted. And although he didn't get me everything I wanted, like dismissing the case or getting the arresting officer to give me a sincere, heartfelt apology, he was able to get the case dismissed without probation as long as I completed 8 or 9 weekly sessions with a therapist. While I was learning to meditate, Dan left the big firm I hired and went solo. I got a call from them saying that they assigned my case to another lawyer. I told them, "No deal. I'll stick with Dan." After they worked things out between themselves, , Dan made one final appearance on my behalf, and the charges were all dropped. He charged a reasonable fee, which I would have paid either way. When everything was done, I officially hired Dan to handle the expungement and sealing of the court record and arrest record. For that service, he gave me a very good price so I said, "Deal."
