I called the office and was immediately told the initial consultation for 1 hour would be $300. Right off the bat I thought this was unusual as initial consultations are normally free, but I figured this attorney has excellent reviews so let's see what she has to say given my situation. While she... was professional and knowledgeable, I felt there was very little strategic options presented to me. It was all cut and dry and basically, suck it up because as a man you will be getting the shaft regardless of whether your ex had an extramarital affair and left the household. If divorce is such a cookie cutter process, then why ask me for a $6000 retainer at the end of the session? It seems like you simply plug in the income values for both parties and you get a number for child and spousal support. This takes 5 minutes. I realize I am simplifying things, but the deck is stacked against any man who is the breadwinner. An unfortunate learning. In any event, I am sure she is a very good lawyer, but with no strategic options or guidance, I was not too impressed.
